Question 2300: solve by elimination
2x+3y=19
5x-4y=-33

Answer by gsmani_iyer(201)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

2x + 3y = 19 .... ......(1)
5x - 4y = -33 .... ......(2)
(1)*4, we get
8x + 12y = 76 .... ......(3)
(2)*3, we get
15x - 12y = -99 ... ......(4)
(3)+(4) we get
23x = -23
so x = = -1
By substituting the value of x in Eq.(1)
-2 + 3y = 19
So 3y = 19 + 2 = 21
So y = = 7
x = -1; & y = 7 Ans.
