Question 22239: the sum of two numbers is 14. Six times the first number minus three times the second number is 3. Find the numbers.
Answer by Paul(988) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+y=14
y=-x+14
6x-3y=3
6x-3(-x+14)=3
6x+3x-42=3
9x-42+42=3+42
9x=45
x=5
y=-5+14
= 9
Hence the two numbers are 9, and 5
