Solve the system of equations graphically, If the system does not have a single ordered pair as a solution, state whether the system is inconsistent or dependent for the following problem
2x+y=-1
2x+y=-7
Step 1. Here's a graph of the two lines.
Step 2. Note the lines are parallel and both lines have a slope of 2. As you can observe, there is no way the lines are going to intersect...so no solution.
Step 3. The system is inconsistent since there is no solution.
