If (-3.5, y) is a solution to the equation 2x-5y=10, what is the value of y?
.
The provided point (-3.5, y) gives the a value of 'x' as -3.5
Substitute that into the given formula and solve for y:
2x-5y=10
2(-3.5)-5y=10
(-7)-5y=10
Adding 7 to both sides:
-5y=17
Finally, dividing both sides by -5:
y = -17/5
y = -3.4
.
