Question 185460: when solving systems of linear equations I was taught to put it in y=ms+b form.
When graphing the equations I get mixed up as to go up or down or left or right for the lines. Ex: 2x-y = 6 x-y = 5 Am I adding y or subtrating x?

The standard line formula is: Y=mX+b where m=the slope & b=the y intercept.
If the slope is positive the line goes up to the right.
If the slope is Negative it goes up to the left.
2x-y = 6
-y=-2x+6
y=2x-6 (red line)
x-y = 5
-y=-x+5
y=x+5 (green line)
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions 2x -6 and x +5).
