The section is called " Uniting Literal Coefficients by Using Parentheses"
I dont understand how to do it and like in this problem- the directions say to subtract the lower expression from the upper one-
dy+az
ey-bz
that is just a sample problem another one is-
ax+aby
bx+aby

To subtract expressions, change the sign of the subtrahend (the bottom expression) and add:
y + (a + b)z)

You don't say, but I presume you want to subtract again, so:
x + 0y = (a - b)x)
