:
3x+(340/19)=40..........distributed -2(-170/19) which equals +340/19
:
3x=(760/19)-(340/19)........40=(760/19)..and subtracted (340/19)from both sides
:
3x=420/19...performed operation on right side
:
x=420/19(3)......divided both sides by 3 to isolate x
