: I was wondering if someone might be able to show me how to use the substitution process to solve the folling linear equation. I can do it but the one like this confuses me. Please show me step by step how this one is done.
x+y=3
x=2y-------this is what is confusing me since x is already solved for.

Since x is already "solved for", expressed in terms of y, substitute x into the other eqn.
2y + y = 3
3y = 3
y = 1
-----------
x = 2y
x = 2
