Question 178022: You plant a 14-inch tree that grows 4 inches per year and an 8-inch tree that grows 6 inches per year. How many years after you plain the trees will the two trees be the same height? How tall will each tree be?

Answer by HyperBrain(694)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x=no. of years for the trees to be of same height
Then, after x years, the 14-inch tree will be 14+4x inches tall; the 8-inch tree will be 8+6x inches long.
So,

4x+14=6x+8
14=2x+8
2x=6
x=3 years Ans.
