Question 176202: this is the substitution method. If y=x-4 and 2x-5y=2, what are x and y
Answer by Mathtut(3670)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=x-4.....eq 1
2x-5y=2...eq 2
:
take y's value from eq 1 and plug it into eq 2
:
2x-5(x-4)=2
:
2x-5x+20=2
:
-3x=-18
:

:
now take x's found value and plug it back into either equation. I choose eq 1
:
y=6-4
