Question 176034: { y=2x-3
{y-2x=7
why does this problem have no solution?

Answer by Mathtut(3670)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=2x-3....eq 1
y-2x=7--->y=2x+7
:
y=2x+7....eq 2
:
as you can see in slope intercept form y=mx+b where m is the slope
:
When slopes are equal, as these are, it means they are parallel lines. That in turn means there are NO solutions. Why they never cross.
