You can put this solution on YOUR website!
lets call the the number of pounds of prezels p and the number of pounds of potato chips c=2-p because there are 2 pounds al together
:
2.4p+3.4(2-p)=3(2)
:
2.4p+6.8-3.4p=6
:
highlight%28p=.8%29pounds of prezels
:
highlight%28c=2-p=2-.8=1.2%29pounds of potato chips

if a cost of a pretzel is 2.40 per pound and the cost of potato chips is 3.40 how many pounds of pretzel and how many pounds of potato chips should be used to make a 2pound blend that cost $3 per pound?
------------------------------
value + value = value
2.40t + 3.40z = 3*2
t + z = 2
-------------------------
Simplify:
240t + 340z = 600
240t + 240z = 480
----------------------
Subtract 2nd from 1st to get:
100z = 120
z = (6/5) lbs (amt. of pretzels in the mix)
---------
Since t + z = 2
t+(6/5) = (10/5)t = 4/5 lbs (amt. of potato chips)
----------------------
