Question 167338: 5x/4+1/2=x-1/2
Answer by aswathytony(47) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5/4 x + 1/2 = x -1/2
combining like terms by subtracting 'x' from both sides
5/4x - x + 1/2 = -1/2
x ( 5/4 -1) +1/2 = -1/2
1/4x +1/2 = -1/2 (taking LCM and simplifying we get 1/4)
Isolating 'x' by subtracting 1/2 on both sides
1/4 x = -1/2 -1/2
1/4x = -2/2 = -1
1 x = -1 * 4 = -4
x = -4 .
