SOLUTION: Rewrite the equation 4x - 10y = 11 as a function of x.
This is what I have but I think it's wrong.
4x-10y=11
-10y=-4x+11
To get y by itself I do : y=-4/-10x+11/10 (thats

Question 161892: Rewrite the equation 4x - 10y = 11 as a function of x.
This is what I have but I think it's wrong.
4x-10y=11
-10y=-4x+11
To get y by itself I do : y=-4/-10x+11/10 (thats -4 over -10 and 11 over -10)
Simplified it would be y=-2/5x+11-10 (thats -2 over 5 and 11 over 10)
What am I doing wrong??
Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Rewrite as a function of x:
First add 10y to both sides.
Now subtract 11 from both sides.
Finally, divide both sides by 10.
Simplify.
...and you can replace the y with f(x).
