You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve:
6x+(2/3)y = 9
2x+(2/3)y = 7 Subtract the second equation from the first equation to eliminate the y.
4x = 2 Divide both sides by 4.
x = 1/2 Now substitute this value of x into either of the two given equations to solve for y. The second equation will work nicely.
2(1/2)+(2/3)y = 7 Simplify.
1+(2/3)y = 7 Subtract 1 from both sides.
(2/3)y = 6 Multiply both sides by the multiplicative inverse of 2/3, that's 3/2
(3/2)(2/3)y = 6(3/2)
y = 9
The solution is: (1/2, 9)
