6x+2/3y= 9
2x+2/3y= 7
i dont have a text book number because it is in a module book

Subtract the second equation from the first equation to eliminate the y.
Divide both sides by 4.
Now substitute this value of x into either of the two given equations to solve for y. The second equation will work nicely.
