Answer by elima(1433)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The sum of 38 and twice a number is 124. Find the number.
Sum means the answer to an addition problem.
Let x = the number, twice the number means it is being multiplied by 2.
So we have;
38+2x=124
We subtract both sides by 38;
38+2x-38=124-38
2x=86
Now we divide both sides by 2;

x=43
Always check your answer!
38+2(43)=124
124=124
Hope you understand!
