let x and y the numbers and x the larger
Three times the larger of two numbers is equal to four times the smaller then 3x=4y
The sum of the numbers is 21 then
x+y=21
y=21-x
3x=4(21-x)
3x=-4x+84
7x=84
x=12
and y=21-12=9
