solve by substitution method.
x = 1/8y - 1
y = 1/4x + 39
-------------------
y = (1/4)[(1/8)y - 1] + 39
y = (1/32)y - (1/4) + 39
(31/32)y = (155/4)
(31/8)y = 155
(1/8)y = 31
y = 248
--------------
Substitute into x = (1/8)y -1 to solve for "x"
x = (1/8)248 -1
x = 32
===================
Final Answer: x = 32, y = 248
