You can put this solution on YOUR website! Because this equation is given in slope-intercept form, it is easiest to find the y-intercept, which is 5, and the slope, which is -4. The slope being -4 (or -4/1) means that the rise is -4 and the run is 1.
So, start by plotting a point that is up 5 units on the y axis. Put the first point there. Next, with your pencil on that last point that you just plotted on the y-axis, measure 4 units down and go one unit to the right, and put a point there (it should be the point (1,1) ). Then draw the line connecting the two points, and continue the line in both directions as follows. It should look like this:
