The given expression is:

8x = -2y - 10 ---------------------(1)

2x = 4y -------------------(2)

This can be written as

==> x = 2y --------------(3)

Substituting (3) in (1) we get:

8(2y) = - 2y - 10

16y = - 2y - 10

16y + 2y = -10

18y = -10

y = -

==> y = - 5/9

By back substitution we can find the value of "x".

x = 2y

x =

x = - 10/9

Thus the solution.
