What solution? One equation in two unknown variables; linear; what are you hoping to look for?

You misunderstood.
You asked for the steps to solve ;
(I am assuming you meant that as a linear equation).

The solution is the whole line. This line has infinitely many points (x,y). Your equation IS ALREADY solved for y, in terms of x. What more would you want solved? Pick x and evaluate y; pick another x and evaluate that corresponding y; and so on.
