Question 1126330: Hi,
I had a quick question about this linear equation. I must solve for x but I don't know how. I keep trying and I eliminate x when I try to make the denominators the same. Here is the problem:
(x/ac)-(x/cb)=(1/ab)
Thank you,
Maddie

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You do not want to eliminate x if you want to solve for x. The other variables are treated like constants.

What are the denominators?
ac, cb, ab.

What is lowest common denominator, or simplest common denominator?
abc.

abc%28x%2F%28ac%29%29-abc%28x%2F%28cb%29%29=abc%2F%28ab%29

bx-ax=c

%28b-a%29x=c

highlight%28x=c%2F%28b-a%29%29
