Hey, let me explain you something . . .

When you post the problem with this addition

    AIRSPEED:---------------(mi/h)
    WINDSPEED:--------------(mi/h)

we,  the tutors,  read it  (as every reasonable person will read it)  in this way:

I, the author of this post, do not need the solution.
I do not need the steps. I don't want learn the method.
I want only the numbers in the answer.

OK,  so if you know the method,  then why don't you calculate the numbers on your own ?

We,  the tutors,  are not the machines to calculate for you,  or instead of you,  or substitute you in doing YOUR job.

Our mission  (function)  in this forum is totally different:  it is to  TEACH  the students.

If,  in opposite,  YOU NEED THE STEPS,  then do not place these irritating lines in your post.

I assume that every reasonable person understands it  (must understand it)  without these explanations.

In other words,  every reasonable person must understand what he  (or she)  is doing.

into a headwind travels the 2080-mile flying distance between two cities in 5 hours and 12 minutes. On the return flight, the airplane travels this distance in 4 hours. Find the airspeed of the plane and the speed of the wind, assuming that both remain constant.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

r, speed of plane if no wind
w, speed of wind
12 minutes is 0.2 hour or hour.
RATE TIME DISTANCE

r-w 5.2 2080
r+w 4 2080
