Question 1112320: You and a friend go to Taco Bell for lunch. You order three soft tacos and three burritos and your bill totals $11.25. Your friend’s bill is $10.00 for four soft tacos and two burritos. How much do soft tacos cost? How much do burritos cost? Write a linear system of equations that can be used to solve this problem.

.
The system of equation the problem asks to write is THIS:

3T + 3B = 11.25 (1) ("You order three soft tacos and three burritos and your bill totals $11.25")

4T + 2B = 10.00 (2) ("Your friend’s bill is $10.00 for four soft tacos and two burritos")

To solve it, you may use the elimination method. For it, multiply eq(1) by 2 (both sides). Multiply eq(2) by 3 (both sides).

Then subtract eq(1) (modified) from eq(2) (modified).

In this way you eliminate the unknown B and obtain a single equation for the unknown T.

Solve it for T.

When you get the value of T, substitute it into either of two equations (1) or (2) and find B.

That is all.

Happy calculations ! !
