You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x/(y-6)=1/6
6x=y-6
6x-y =-6.................(1)
(x+2)/y=1/4
4(x+2)=y
4x+8 =y
4x-y = -8...................(2)
6x-y =-6
4x-y = -8
subtract 2 from 1
2x = 2
x=1
plug x=1 to get y
6(1)-y = -6
y=12

The exact system as written, system%28x%2Fy-6=1%2F6%2Cx%2B2%2Fy=1%2F4%29

system%28x-6y=y%2F6%2Cxy%2B2=y%2F4%29

system%286x-36y=y%2C4xy%2B8=y%29

system%286x=37y%2C4xy%2B8=y%29
You can continue on with this to try to solve but Elimination does not seem to be the right method to choose.

If you are working on solving a problem like this, then your level of math knowledge should be enough for you to know that the proper use of parentheses is important.

One tutor who responded guessed what the system of equations really was and came up with a solution.

It should not be the job of the tutors to guess what your system of equations is. That's your job.

The other tutor who responded started working on the system of equations exactly as you posted it and showed that you end up with an ugly system which is not easily solved.

.

How @josgarithmetic and @mananth approach to this  " problem ",  it is out of good sense.

        Did I say  " out of good sense " ? - - -   No,  it is  AGAINST  of good sense.

First thing to do is to get a correct writing.

Only after that one can start solving problem.

So, dear visitor, write it in mathematically clear form and re-post.

Ignore that contributions from @josgarithmetic and @mananth as non-sensical.
