4x - 2y =  2,    (1)
4x +  y = 11.    (2)
----------------------------Subtract eq(2) from eq(1) (both sides). You will get

-2y - y = 2 - 11,   or

-3y = -9  ====>  y =  = 3.


Then from eq(1),  4x = 2 + 2*y = 2 + 2*3 = 8  ====>  x =  = 2.


Answer.  The solution is  x= 2,  y= 3.
