Answer:

-6( x + 1 ) + 4 = 16

Use distributive property and hence remove the parenthesis....

==> -6* x - 6 * 1+ 4 = 16

==> -6x - 6 + 4 = 16

==> -6x - 2 = 16

Add 2 on both sides...

==> -6x - 2 + 2 = 16 + 2

==> -6x = 18


Divide both sides by -6

==> +-6x%2F-6+=+18%2F-6

==> +x+=+-3, which is the solution.
