Answer by MathTherapy(10552)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

3(x+8)=6(y+4)
17y -37 = 3x +7
3(x + 8) = 6(y  + 4)_____x + 8 = 2(y + 4)_____x + 8 = 2y + 8_____x = 2y ------- eq (i)
17y - 37 = 3x + 7_____3x - 17y = - 44 ------- eq (ii)
3(2y) - 17y = - 44 ------ Substituting 2y for x in eq (ii)
6y - 17y = - 44
- 11y = - 44

x = 2(4) ----- Substituting 4 for y in eq (i)
