Very easy.

Simply substitute the expression y = 5x - 17 of the first equation into the second equation, replacing "y". 
You will get a single equation for "x":

8x + 6*(5x-17) = -14.

Simplify and solve it for "x".


Then restore "y" using the first equation.

This method is called the "substitution method".
