Question 1043365: -x+2/9y=1 9x+3y=6
Answer by LinnW(1048)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-x+2/9y=1
9x+3y=6
Work on -x+2/9y=1 first
multiply each side by 9
-9x + 2y = 9
Now we have the two equations
-9x + 2y = 9 and
9x + 3y = 6
Add the two together
5y = 15
divide each side by 5
y = 3
Substitute 3 for y in 9x+3y=6
9x+3(3) = 6
9x + 9 = 6
add -9 to each side
9x = -3
divide each side by 9
x = -3/9 = -1/3
So we have y = 3 and x = -1/3
