The first thing you want to do is get rid of the fractions, multiplying by 6 will do it:
6* - 6(2) = 6*

Cancel out the denominators and you have:
3x - 12 = 2(x-2)

Multiply what's inside the brackets:
3x - 12 = 2x - 4
:
3x - 2x = -4 + 12; do some basic algebra

1x = 8
or
x = 8

Substitute 8 for x in the original equation and see if it is true
8 - 2 =
4 - 2 = *6; confirms our solution
