Question 759966: I need help! What is 3+4y=8y-1/5
I keep getting decimal answers & i'm unsure of how to turn into a fraction
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3+4y=8y-1/5
-----
Subtract 4y from both sides to get:
3 = 4y - (1/5)
----
Add (1/5) to both sides:
----
4y = 3 + (1/5)
----
4y = (15/5) + (1/5)
----
4y = 16/5
---
y = (1/4)(16/5)
---
y = 4/5 or 0.8
