Use unit multipliers to convert 300 square miles to square kilometers
---------------------
1 mi = 1.609 km
300 mi^2 = 300 (mile)(mile)
=300 (1.609 km)(1.609 km)
=300(2.588881)km^2
=776.6643 km^2
-----------
1 mi = 1.609 km
(1 mi)^2 = (1.609 km)^2 = 2.588881 km^2
(1 mi)^2 = 2.588881 km^2
Multiply both sides by 300 to get:
300[1 mi]^2 = 300[2.588881] km^2
300 m^2 = 776.6643 km^2
--------------
Take your choice.
