Question 338830: The book directions are to convert the rate into given units. The equation that they gave me is 20 mil/h to feet per second and i have no idea how to convert the equation. I dont understand what unti they want me to end on becuase it says h to feet per second.
Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
20 miles/hour = 20 mi/hr * 5280 ft/mile * (1/60) hr/minute*(1/60) minute/second
--------------
The units cancel --> ft/second
20*5280/(60*60) = 29.333... ft/sec
---------------------
PS 60 mph = 88 ft/sec or 15 mph = 22 ft/sec If you remember that could save some arithmetic.
-------------
20 mph = 20*22/15 ft/sec
As a check, ft/sec will be a bigger number than mph
