SOLUTION: The function p(d)= 1+d/33, gives the pressure in atmosphere (atm), at a depth d in the sea (d is in feet). Note that p(0)= 1 atm, p (33= 2 and so on. Find the pressure at 100 feet.

Question 230342: The function p(d)= 1+d/33, gives the pressure in atmosphere (atm), at a depth d in the sea (d is in feet). Note that p(0)= 1 atm, p (33= 2 and so on. Find the pressure at 100 feet. The pressure at 100 feet is_______ atm. I came up with the pressure at 100 feet is 1100 am I close
Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If your answer is 1100 atmospheres, then if you subtract 1, you get 1099, meaning that d divided by 33 must equal 1099. In other words, d must be equal to 33 times 1099 = 36,267 feet. That's a tiny smidge larger than 100 feet. So you are only off by 36,167 feet. In astronomical or even global terms, that is pretty close. But for this problem, probably not close enough. What do you think?
We are given
so:
atm
