1 1/4 miles in 2 minutes and 4 seconds,
1.25/2.06667=.6048 MILES PER MINUTE.
OR
1 3/16 miles in 1 minute and 55 seconds.
1.1875/1.91667=.61956 MILES PER MINUTE. THE FASTER RATE.

Velocity = Distance / Time
.
(1) 1 -1/4 / 2 -4/60 = 1.25 / 2.067 =.6048 mi/min
.
(2) 1-3/16/1-55/60 = 1.1875/ 1.9167 = .6196 mi/min

Therefore Rate 2 is slightly greater

(5/4) miles in 124 seconds
(5/4)/124 miles in 1 second
0.01008 miles in 1 secnd

1 3/16 miles in 1 minute and 55 seconds...
(19/16) miles in 115 seconds
(19/16)/115 miles in 1 second
0.01033 miles in 1 second

So1 3/16 miles in 1 min and 55 seconds is faster
