Start with an easier problem. Convert 1 square mile into
square feet. I know that
1 mile = 5280 ft
A square that is 1 mile on each side is 5280 ft on each side
1 mile2 = 5280%5E2 ft2
Now I can multiply the ratio
5280%5E2+%2F+1 ft2/mile2
by 7000 mile2, I get:
5280%5E2+%2F+1 ft2/mile2 x 7000 mile2
Notice that the mile2 cancel, and you are left with ft2
Now just do the calculation
