Lets first deal in qts to start with:
Now we know that there are 4 qts in a gal. That means there would be 8*4 or 32 qts in 8 gal
So 8 gal 7qts=32qts + 7qts=39qts
And 3 gal 2qts=12qts+2qts=14qts
Now we have:
39 qts-14 qts=25qts Now to convert back to gal
4 will go into 25 6 times with 1 qt left over. So our answer is:
6 gal and 1 qt or (d)
Hope this helps---ptaylor
