Question 1170675: Driving while texting is illegal because it keeps the driver's eyes off the road while the car continues traveling. Suppose you spent 4.9 seconds writing and sending a text message, while your car travels on a freeway at 60 miles per hour. How far, in feet, has your car traveled in that time? Round to one decimal place. (Hint: Start with 4.9 seconds and use dimensional analysis to find its equivalent in hours.)

I learned in driver's training that 60 mph is 88 ft/sec. It is useful to know, because after that for any mph, one may calculate ft/sec.
88 ft/sec*4.9sec=431.2 feet.
If you want to prove the above
60 mi/hr*1hr/3600 sec*5280 ft/1 mile=88 ft/sec
-
4.9 sec* 1 hour/3600 sec=0.001361111hr*5280 ft/1mile*60 mi/1 hour for same answer.
