Sorry if it's not easy to understand. The problmer is a fraction within parentheses the only number outside the parenthesis is the 2 exponent. I am to simplify without the parenthesis. Thanks in advance

Question 211450: I have gotten several diffrent answers for the below and not sure if you multiply the bottom of the fraction or not with the exponent:
(x^4)^2

-2y^2
This is a fraction and the 2 is outside the parenthese. I need to simplify without parenthesis

Question 213542: Hi, if there's any one who knows how to solve this problem i'd appreciate it, explaining how to find the solution to the problem is far more important then that actaul anwser.
I'm not sure what symbol i can type for Radical Numbers so i'll use R to represent a Radical Number.
