You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5/(1+i) write expression as complex number in standard form
---------------
Multiply numerator and denominator by 1-i to get:
5(1-i)/[(1+i)(1-i)]
= [5-5i]/(1-i^2)
= [5-5i]/2
= (5/2)-(5/2)i

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5/1+i write expression as complex number in standard form
:
Multiply by the conjugate of the denominator over itself
5%2F%28%281%2Bi%29%29 * %28%281-i%29%29%2F%28%281-i%29%29 = %285%281-i%29%29%2F%28%281+-+i%5E2%29%29 = %285%281-i%29%29%2F%28%281+-+%28-1%29%29%29 = %285%281-i%29%29%2F%28%281+%2B+1%29%29 = %28%285-5i%29%29%2F2
or
5%2F2 - 5%2F2i
