This is how I worked it out at one point but I cant get to seem to get to the answer of 6 (which is in the back of the book) Im confused, I though I understood these.
-8-4x-8-3x=1+4
-16-7x=5
+16 +16

It would help if you would post that problem
again with some parentheses so we can see where
numerators and denominators begin and end. As
it stands there are many ways to interpret
the problem and that leads to many different
answers.
