Mark had 3 times more marbles than Isabella. Isabella had 2/3 more marbles than Jack for a total of 99 marbles. How many marbles did Mark, Isabella, and Jack each have?
------
Equations:
M = 3I
I = (2/3)J
M + I + J = 99
------------------
Substitute for M and J and solve for "I":
3I + I + (3/2)I = 99
6I + 2I + 3I = 198
11I = 198
I = 18 (Isabelle has 18)
M = 3I = 54 (Mark has 54 marbles)
J = (3/2)I = (3/2)18 = 27 (Jack has 27 marbles)
