Answer by funmath(2933)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
smaller of two consecutive integers:x
larger of two consecutive integers:x+1
The larger of two consecutive integers (x+1)is(=) 10 more than (+10) twice (2*) the smaller integer(x).
Problem to solve:
x+1=2x+10
-x+x+1=-x+2x+10
1=x+10
1-10=x+10-10
-9=x
Smaller integer:x=-9
Larger integer:x+1=-9+1=-8
------------------------------------------------------
Check:
The larger of two consecutive integers (-8)is(=) 10 more than (+10) twice (2*) the smaller integer(-9).
-8=2(-9)+10
-8=-18+10
-8=-8
