Answer by edjones(8007)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/(√2) + x = x/(√2)
1+sqrt(2)x=x multiply each side by sqrt(2)
sqrt(2)x=x-1
2x^2=x^2-2x+1
x^2+2x-1=0
x^2+2x =1
x^2+2x+1=1+1 complete the square.
(x+1)^2=2
x+1=+-sqrt(2) sqrt of each side.
x=-1-sqrt(2) the only answer.[x=-1+sqrt(2) is extraneous]
