Factor:
Factor -3.
Now look at the two terms in the parentheses and notice the common factor of in each. Factor this out:

First reverse the terms so there won't be a negative stuck out front



You can take out a 3.
You can also take out the smallest power of each letter that
occurs in both terms:
The smallest exponent of each of the letters is 1,
So you can take out  or just
