I assume you want to solve this. (x-5)^2-x=30
Let's expand this out to:
x^2-10x+25-x=30 Combine terms and subtract 30 from both sides to get:
x^2-11x-5=0
We'll need the quadratic formula to solve this:
Entering the values looks like this:
{x = (+11 +- sqrt( 121+20 ))/(2) This comes out to be
x=11.44 and
x=-.437 These are rounded off.
