Question 245722: How to solve 2x^2 + 1 = 0 using imaginary/complex numbers
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x^2=-1
divide by 2
x^2=-1/2
this is where imaginary numbers come in.
get sqrt of both sides
x=+\- i/sqrt(2) where i=sqrt(-1)
x=+ i/sqrt(2)
x=- i/sqrt(2)
