Question 192042: the side of a cube is increasing at a constant rate of .2 centimeters per second. in terms of the surface area s what is the rate of change of the volume of the cube in cubic centimeters per second?
a) .1
b).2
c).6
d).04
e).008
please help me on this problem your help is greatly appreciated!
Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If each edge is a:
surface area = 6a^2
Volume = a^3
The rate of change of the volume = 3a^2
That's 1/2 of the surface area.
--------------------
A number is given for the rate of change, 0.2 cm/sec, but no value for the length of the side, so a numerical answer is not possible.
The answer doesn't match any of the choices. I suspect something is wrong.
